This Privacy Policy explains how Famdwel, LLC (“Famdwel,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Famdwel mobile application, the Famdwel web application, the Famdwel browser extensions, our website, and related services (the “Service”). It is incorporated into and part of our Terms and Conditions. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Famdwel is a tool that helps you and the people you are searching with organize a home search — opening third-party listing websites, in the app or in your own browser with a Famdwel extension, saving links and your own notes and photos, and deciding together. This Policy covers information handled by Famdwel itself; it does not cover the third-party listing sites you open through Famdwel, which have their own policies (see Section 6).

A note on links you save. When you deliberately save or suggest a home, that page’s web address and title become part of the property card you created — they are Your Content, described above, not diagnostics. The diagnostics we collect never record the listing pages you browse; the only listing pages we store are the ones you chose to save or suggest, and we store them as part of your household’s card.

The Service lets you open third-party listing websites (such as Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, Homes.com, and Trulia) inside an in-app browser so you can browse them yourself, and — if you install a Famdwel browser extension — adds Famdwel’s own controls to those sites in your own browser. Those sites are operated by third parties and are governed by their own privacy policies and terms, not this Policy. When you use them, they may collect information about you directly, including through cookies. To make signing in to those sites more convenient, the in-app browser may keep you logged in to a site across sessions using that site’s own cookies; you can clear these by signing out on the site or clearing the app’s browser data. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites’ practices.
With a browser extension, the listing page is loaded by your own browser, directly from that site — Famdwel does not frame, proxy, fetch, or scrape it, and its contents never reach us. The extension does not read the page and keeps no record of the sites you visit. When you choose to save or suggest a home, it sends us only that page’s web address and title, along with anything you type in yourself. Cookies on those sites are your own browser’s, set by those sites and governed by your browser settings and the site’s policy, not by Famdwel.
Famdwel itself uses only the storage necessary to keep you signed in and to run the Service — the app’s local storage on your device, your browser’s storage for the Famdwel web app, and the local storage each Famdwel browser extension keeps in your browser. On the web app and the extensions, that storage holds your sign-in session and your own preferences, and nothing more. As noted above, the in-app browser stores cookies set by the third-party sites you visit so those sites can keep you logged in; with an extension, cookies for the sites you visit are set by those sites in your own browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete Your Content or your account, we delete or de-identify the associated information within a reasonable period, except for limited backup copies retained briefly and content already shared with other household members.
Two different retention rules apply, and it is worth being clear about which is which.
Short-lived technical diagnostics. App diagnostics (see Section 2) are kept only for a short rolling period — currently 24 hours — and then automatically deleted. We may adjust this retention period from time to time; the current period is always stated here.
Durable account records. Everything else is not a diagnostic and is not deleted on that 24-hour cycle. Your account, profile, household memberships, and Your Content are kept while your account is active, as described above. So is the platform-and-device-usage record described in Section 2 — which Famdwel platforms your account has used, when you first and last used each, how many sessions you have had, and the basic device context. To be plain about it: Famdwel does keep a long-term, account-level record of which platforms you use. The 24-hour rule covers technical diagnostics, not that record. We keep it while your account is active, and we delete or de-identify it with your account, on the same terms as the rest of your account information.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — see Section 11. To exercise any right, use the in-app controls or contact us at [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including access controls enforced at the database level so that content is accessible only to the members of your household who are permitted to see it, and private storage for your photos. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have rights to: know or access the personal information we hold about you; correct it; delete it; obtain a portable copy; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We never sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA). The categories of personal information we collect, our purposes for using it, and the parties we share it with are described in Sections 2, 4, and 5. The Service is generally intended for users 18 and older. As an exception, a minor aged 13–17 may participate in a household only if invited by a household owner who is the minor’s parent or legal guardian, who consents to the minor’s participation and agrees to the Terms on the minor’s behalf. In that case we collect only the limited information needed for the minor to participate (such as a display name and the content they contribute), and the inviting parent or legal guardian controls the minor’s participation and may remove them or revoke access at any time.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, or that a minor is using the Service without the required parent/guardian invitation and consent, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the information and remove the account.
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as by posting the updated Policy in the app with a new effective date and, where appropriate, obtaining your consent. Your continued use after the update takes effect constitutes acceptance.
